This article describes how to clear the cache and cookies for a variety of popular web browsers.
Web browsers use caching to speed up the browsing experience. Normally, this is not a problem. However, when you are developing pages for your web site or configuring domain settings, the browser's local cache and cookies can get in the way. For example, you might update one of your web pages. When you view the page in your web browser, however, you may see the old (cached) version instead of the new version that you expected.
To clear cache and cookies, follow the appropriate procedure below for your web browser.
Google Chrome
To clear the cache and cookies in Google Chrome, follow these steps:
- Click the
icon, click , and then click . The Clear browsing data dialog appears.
Alternatively, press Ctrl-Shift-Delete to display the Clear browsing data dialog immediately. - Click the Basic tab.
- In the Time range list box, select the length of time to clear data. To clear the entire cache, select All time.
- To clear the cookies, select the Cookies and other site data check box.
- To clear the cache, select the Cached images and files check box.
- Click .
